Why Red light blinks on top of towers? Big Tech Bang Explains

Hello all!!! During night time if you are seeing the city view then you might have noticed that there is red light blinking on the top of the towers. Have you ever wondered why the red light is blinking during night time? Well, let's have a look in this post.

In olden days towers will be having steady red light which glow on the top of the towers. This helps the pilots to notice the height of their plane flying. This also help them to prevent hitting any tall towers and buildings. During day time white lights are used.

But, the FAA(Federal Aviation Administration) started noticing many death of birds due to the red light. They have done research on that. Finally they found that birds are getting attracted towards the steady bright red light.

The steady red light is affecting 19 species of birds. During night time, in the dark birds gets attached towards the red light. They think that it is path for their travel. Then they may hit the towers or transmission lines and dies. Migrating birds got affected alot because of the steady red light.

Then FAA had done many research on this and finally found that blinking light has less effect on birds. Then in 2016 FAA has ordered that all towers should have blinking red light not the static red light.

Thus the death of birds due to tower lights got reduced. This small change has saved many birds.
