How power steering works??? Big Tech Bang Explains

     Hello all!!! If you are having driving experience only with modern days car then you will feel hard to drive Maruti 800 or Ambassador. The major change will be it's steering. This is because now a days we are using power steering. In this post we are gonna see how power steering works?

     Power steering will make the wheels to turn side by side with a less effort from the driver. The power steering will be provided in such a way that when something goes wrong with the power steering setting then we can control by manual(full human effort) steering.

     There are three types of power steering are used. They are;
  1. Hydraulic power steering system
  2. Hybrid power steering system
  3. Electronic power steering system.
Hydraulic power steering system

     It is the hydraulic system which has hydraulic pump driven by engine and hydraulic cylinders. This system multiplies the input coming from the steering wheel. This will help the wheels move side by side more easily. The cylinder has compressed liquid which will give enough pressure to the steering gear.

Hybrid power steering system

     It is a derivative from the hydraulic power steering system. In hydraulic power steering system, engine is used to run the hydraulic pump. In hybrid model, electric motor is used. The hydraulic pump is driven by the electric motor. This called hybrid system because both electric and hydraulic systems are used.

Electronic power steering system

     This is totally different from the above two systems. Here all hydraulic parts are replaced with electrical systems and sensors. Now a days in most of the four wheelers this power steering system is used. The sensors detect the position and control the motor accordingly. The motor will control the movement of the wheels.
