     Hello all!!! One of the innovative technology used in our day to day life is the facial recognition technology. In this post we are gonna see how the facial recognition technology works?

     The facial recognition technology has a huge market. It is expected to be doubled by 2022. This is mainly because of it's applications. In mobile phones we used fingerprint sensors for security. Now a days we are using facial recognition technology for security. The facial recognition security is less secure than fingerprint sensors and iris recognition technology.

     Before going in to the step by step working, we need to know some facts and information. According to some survey, it is found that almost 60% of the  people have their face data in more than one facial recognition company's database.

     Now we can see the working of facial recognition technology.

Step 1: 

     First the image of your face is taken from a picture or video. The photo can also be taken at that moment. You may be in crowd but it will take your image separate.

Step 2:

     Then the facial recognition software will find some biometric details of your face. The details will be like distance between eyes, size or shape of nose, chin. Almost 68 parameters will be found. This form the facial sign of you.

Step 3:

     As I told already, in database there will be more images. Then the algorithm will check for matching of your face to any other image in the database.

Step 4: 

     Finally, if the data matches then the software will show the results of recognition like name and other details.

Some Technology in Facial Recognition

2D Recognition:

     In 2D facial recognition technology, the depth of your face is not taken into consideration. It is less safe. If someone needs to unlock your phone, they can just use a photo of you.

3D Recognition

     In 3D facial recognition technology, the depth of the face is also measured. In dark places also the recognition will work by using sensors like IR sensor or facial sensor.

Skin Texture Analysis

     In skin texture analysis, the unique patterns and scars in skin are taken into consideration. This technology is trending now. Implementation of this technology with the facial recognition technology will increase the accuracy by 20%.

Applications

1. Facial recognition technology is used in airports to find the suspects and terrorists.
2. It is also uses in mobiles as a security feature.
3. It is used in retailer shops to find the thiefs and to prevent misbehaviour.

Drawback

• Facial recognition technology is not 100% perfect. If the facial recognition shows that the therrorist is you, then it may end up in a bad way. 
• Companies may sell your data to another company for their profit.
• Your privacy will get affected. They will be watching your behaviour.
• In Fast and Furious 8 we would have seen the God's Eye technology. It uses facial recognition technology. If someone find something like that then think what will happen.
