Hello all!!! We would have seen pictures of green coloured and red coloured sky. This will make us feel that how good it is edited. But it is not edited, it is the real sky seen in North pole and South pole.
Aurora is the brilliant light sky seen in North and South pole. It is caused by the magnetic field of the Earth preventing harmful radiation entering the Earth.
Aurora seen in North pole is called Aurora borealis. Aurora seen in South pole is called Aurora australis.
The colour is seen because of the high energised electrons from the solar wave hitting the atoms in the Earth's atmosphere. The solar wave will travel in speed of 1 million miles per hour. After leaving sun, it will take 40 hours to reach the Earth.
The Earth has highly charged electric and magnetic field. The solar wave will tend to travel in accordance to the electric and magnetic field.
The electrons in the solar wave will hit with oxygen and Nitrogen to showcase various colours in the sky.
- Green - when the electron hits Oxygen in an altitude up to 150 miles.
- Red - When the electron hits Oxygen in an altitude of above 150 miles.
- Blue - When the electron hits Nitrogen in an altitude up to 60 miles.
- Purple or Violet - When the electron hits Nitrogen in an altitude of above 60 miles.
The electrical and magnetic forces react with each other in constantly shifting combination. This shifting will be seen as a flow and we will be able to see the Aurora dance. The aurora is shifting along with the atmospheric current with current of 20,000,000 Amperes at 50,000 Volts. This is a lot of current and voltage.
These aurora are seen in the magnetic north pole and the south pole not the geographic north and south pole.
