A look into the Sun

     Hello all!!! Today we are gonna see some facts about the Sun. So let's get started.

      The Sun is formed about 4.5 Billion years ago. It is formed by collapsing of dusty gaseous particles called solar nebula collapsed.  It is present at the centre of the solar system.

     The Sun has 91% Hydrogen, 8.9% Helium and 0.1% heavier elements. These will be present in the form of plasma because of the extreme heat of the sun.

     It is the largest celestial body in our solar system. The diameter of the sun is equal to 100 times the diameter of the earth.

      There are two properties of the sun which makes it the most important celestial body in the solar system. They are; 

• Gravitational pull
• Magnetic field

Gravitational pull

     The sun has a great gravitational pull. Because of this gravitational pull Hydrogen atoms gets fused together to form Helium. This process is called Thermonuclear fusion. This will emit large amount of energy.

      The gravitational pull of the sun helps the planets in the solar system to be held intact. If the sun's gravitational pull doesn't exist then the planets may have gone out of the solar system.

Magnetic field

     The fusion reaction is happening in the core of the sun. This pushes the particles to the upper and lower parts. This inturn causes the formation of north and the south pole. This magnetic field is very strong. The heliosphere in the earth prevent the effect of these fields entering the earth. 

     The magnetic field of the sun interacts with the planet's atmosphere and shows up auroras. Those are beautiful to look but are so dangerous.

     The Sun is not gonna last forever. After 6.5 Billion years the sun will run out of Hydrogen. This will stop the reaction and gets expanded. This will spread towards Mercury, Mars, even Earth. Then it will shrink in to a white ball.
