In the last post I have explained the definition, history, working of Bluetooth. In this post I am gonna explain the specifications and the applications of the Bluetooth technology.
Specifications
There are two specifications we need to consider. They are;
- Core specifications
- Profiles specifications
Core specifications
The core specifications consists of five layers;
Radio
Radio specifies the requirements of radio transmission like frequency, modulation and power characteristics.
Baseband layer
It specifies physical and logical channels like transmission timing.
Link Manager Protocol (LMP)
It provides the procedure for link setup and link management.
Logical Link Control and Adaption Protocol
It is responsible for adapting upper layer protocols to the baseband layer.
Service Discovery Protocol
It allows one device to query othe Bluetooth device.
Applications
- Bluetooth headset
- Cordless desktop
- Multimedia transfer
- Smart band
